Application deadline extended for County Economic Revitalization and Public Services grant programs

The County of Maui Office of Recovery has extended the application deadline for its Hoʻokumu Hou Economic Revitalization Ka ʻImi ʻIke Program and Hoʻokumu Hou Public Services Program to 5 p.m. on Oct. 8, 2026.

The County will also accept additional questions from prospective applicants through Sept. 20, providing organizations with another opportunity before the new deadline to seek clarification on program requirements and the application process. Answers to the first round of questions, which were accepted through Sept. 2, are now available on the Hoʻokumu Hou website, https://hookumuhou.mauicounty.gov.

The two competitive grant programs are funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program and support organizations addressing recovery needs resulting from the 2023 Maui Wildfires.

• The Economic Revitalization Ka ʻImi ʻIke Program supports workforce development activities, including job training, credentialing, employment readiness, job placement, participant support services and other initiatives that help residents access employment opportunities and strengthen Maui’s workforce.

• The Public Services Program supports recovery-focused services such as health and wellness programs, behavioral health services, disaster case management, childcare, transportation access, homelessness outreach and other eligible public services that help individuals and families recover and stabilize.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to review the applicable Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) and program materials for complete eligibility, application and submission requirements.

Additional information, including the NOFAs, program materials and application information, is available at https://hookumuhou.mauicounty.gov.
