Bangladesh’s Economy Surpasses USD500B Milestone
According to provisional figures released by the country's statistics authority, Bangladesh’s GDP at current market prices is estimated to have increased to $501 billion in fiscal year 2025-26, compared with $456 billion recorded in the previous fiscal year.
The latest estimates indicate that the South Asian economy is expected to expand by 4.14% during the current fiscal period, which runs from July 2025 through June 2026.
The report also projects an increase in per capita income, which is forecast to reach $3,020 this fiscal year, up from $2,769 a year earlier.
Sectoral data suggest modest improvements across key parts of the economy, with agriculture, industry, and services all expected to register growth compared with the previous year.
The new figures place Bangladesh among the countries with economies valued at more than half a trillion dollars, marking another milestone in the nation's long-term economic development and expansion.
