5.6 Magnitude Quake Jolts India-Myanmar Border Region
The tremor originated at a depth of around 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), with its epicenter located in Myanmar's Sagaing Region, close to the border with India. EMSC confirmed the details of the seismic event, which sent shockwaves through the surrounding areas.
Mawlaik, a town in Myanmar’s Sagaing Region, was at the epicenter of the earthquake, but tremors were also felt in the Indian city of Aizawl. Despite the strong shaking, there have been no immediate reports of structural damage or casualties.
Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation, but for now, the region remains on high alert.
